With thanks and condolences to Isabel Harrison for
letting us know of her and our loss.

"Goodbye, old friend."
God saw you getting tired
When a cure was not to be....
He closed His arms around you
And whispered, "Come to me."

In tears we saw you sinking...
We watched you fade away.
Our hearts were almost broken,
You fought so hard to stay.

But when we saw you sleeping,
So peacefully, free of pain,
We would not wish you back
To suffer that again.

So treasure him, Lord,
In your "Garden of Rest,"
For here on earth,
He was "one of the best."

Bob was born in Comox and grew up in Campbell River. He was the second child
of a family that would grow to 4 girls and 2 boys. He studied at UVIC and
received a BSc in Math. His graduate work, which earned him an MSc in Physics,
involved the design of the Pion beam line at TRIUMF.

In 1972 Bob moved to Vancouver to join the BC Cancer Research Medical
Biophysics team. A year later, Isabel joined the group and before long these two
were burning up the squash courts. Bob and Isabel were married a year later in
1974.

From 1980 until his retirement in 2004, Bob worked in the Medical Physics
group. His work involved the development of an advanced Treatment Planning
System as well as having instrumental roles in developing the Proton, Prostate
Brachytherapy and Stereotactic Radiosurgery treatment programs.

Bob seemed to strike the perfect balance between work and play. His adventures
with Isabel would take them exploring in Egypt, hiking the Inca trail, kayaking
in Belize and reaching 20,000ft in Nepal. He loved sailing, skiing, cycling, cats,
classical music and crossword puzzles as well as his beloved Isabel.

He faced cancer with quiet dignity. Throughout his illness, he never lost his gentle
sense of humour or deteriorated into self-pity. His calm and peaceful nature
touched all who knew him.  He will be greatly missed.
